FAQ – Family Help Center
We are here to inspire other families to take a family gap year. Here are the most common questions we are asked:
We first met in 2006 at the International Hospitality School of Leeuwarden. That year, Ruben founded the wine association Dionysus with friends and Viki joined. It was love at first sight, but we were both taken at the time. It took another 7 years before we had our first date and we have been together ever since.
We left on May 28, 2024 and will be away for about a year.
We finance our trip with our savings, rental income from our own home and income from our businesses.
We continue to work on our business throughout our journey. This is not a full-time job, but approximately 2 days a week.
Senne and Levi are currently not going to school and we are homeschooling them. Every morning we do different assignments together and we discover the world while traveling.
Making friends is easy while travelling. You will meet so many people and they are all super relaxed while travelling. The hardest thing is saying goodbye, especially for kids.
We use Revolut during our travels and we love it. Within the app you can add your monthly budget and it gives you a nice overview of your spendings divided in different categories. Revolut is a debit card, which means you have to top-up first before you can spend. It is super reliable and comes with many perks if you choose from one of the paid options. We are sharing our referral link if you are interested: Revolut.
